This week the team are celebrating the success of our Breakfast Chef, Rob. Rob has just passed his Commis Chef apprenticeship with HIT Training, HIT Training is the leading specialist training and apprenticeship provider for the UK’s hospitality and catering industry.
Apprenticeships are not just available for school or college leavers but to any chefs already working in the industry who wish to improve their skills, undertake more responsibilities or gain promotion. Rob has thoroughly enjoyed completing his apprenticeship, he has gained many new skills through; on-site learning and assessment, e-learning and assignments and with frequent on-site visits by our industry experienced chef trainers. Supported every step of the way by his tutor Paul Ayers, Rob comments “I have thoroughly enjoyed completing my apprenticeship, I have been exposed to different skills and preparation techniques that I can’t wait to put into practise during a busy service! In particular my favourite module was workshop 2; learning all about game, both furred and feathered. We were taken step by step on how to prepare, cook and serve different game varieties and were able to come up with our own dishes to promote what we had learnt. I am so grateful for the opportunity to continue my learning and development whilst working in a busy kitchen.”
Hospitality is a rich and rewarding environment to work in. If you ask anyone who works in Hospitality, they will tell you that no two days are the same. This is very much due to the nature of the business that makes up the industry, you never know who your next customer will be and why they have stepped foot into your business. In 2018 Hogarths launched Hogarths Training Academy, with the mission; To take raw talent and train each individual to be the very best in Hospitality. Through a dedicated approached to Hospitality, Education and Industry learning, it is our mission is to deliver the next generation of professionals. Operations Director Steven Quick explains “ At Hogarths, we are so pleased to be able to offer to support and guide our team through their professional careers. The Hogarths Academy was set up in order to offer further opportunities for those who wish to continue their individual development. My ambition is to develop staff to be the best they can be and also for us as a team to educate each individual to give them the knowledge of the hospitality industry to support their roles and ensure they have all the tools in place to help them progress further, whilst delivering exceptional hospitality. We are very proud of Rob, he has worked extremely hard over the last year to achieve his goals and we look forward to seeing how Rob develops in his hospitality career.”
